It is a Maronite Church, one of the Eastern-Rite churches that are entirely in communion with Rome. The liturgy is said in the English and the Aramaic languages. The consecration of the bread and wine is chanted in Aramaic, the same language that Christ spoke. The Maronite Church takes its name from St. Maron, a holy hermit and monk who lived in the vicinity of Antioch in the second half of the 4th century. He and his followers courageously defended the Catholic doctrine in the area. Our Lady of the Cedars is a parish church that serves the people's spiritual needs and religious activities from birth to death. It is a parish that gathers the joys and hopes of its members, and their anguish and sadness as well.
